In a significant operation against drug trafficking, the Chatra police have successfully arrested a drug peddler and confiscated a substantial quantity of brown sugar. The raid, conducted near Bhelwara Mor in Nawadih under the Pathalgadda police station limits, resulted in the seizure of 51 grams of brown sugar, with an estimated street value of approximately Rs 1.5 lakh.

Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shubham Khandelwal addressed the media on Tuesday, providing crucial insights into the operation. The accused has been identified as Krishna Kumar, a resident of Lovagada village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Chatra Sadar police station area. During the raid, authorities also recovered a mobile phone from his possession, which is expected to aid in further investigations.

Operation Initiated Based on Tip-Off

The police action was set in motion following a specific tip-off received by Chatra Superintendent of Police (SP) Sumit Kumar Agarwal. The information pertained to the ongoing sale and purchase of narcotics in the vicinity of Bhelwara More. Acting swiftly on this intelligence, a dedicated raiding team was constituted and promptly dispatched to the location to carry out the operation.

Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Efforts

A formal case has been registered under the stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Following the arrest, the accused, Krishna Kumar, has been remanded to judicial custody as the legal process unfolds. SDPO Khandelwal emphasized that the investigation is far from over, with concerted efforts underway to identify and trace other members of the drug network involved in this illicit racket.
