A dramatic case of alleged financial misappropriation stemming from a salary dispute in Dubai has culminated in a kidnapping and rescue operation in Chennai. A 29-year-old man from Trichy and his girlfriend were abducted after returning to India, leading to a police intervention.
Salary Dispute in Dubai Leads to Financial Misappropriation
K Sarathkumar, a resident of Subramaniyapuram in Trichy, had been working as an accountant and administrator for a private manpower agency in Dubai for seven years. According to his statement, he was not paid his salary for a period of six months. Following this, he allegedly misappropriated approximately 47 lakh rupees from the company's bank account.
His girlfriend, who was employed as a club dancer in Dubai, was with him when they decided to return to India. The couple landed at the Chennai airport on December 26.
Airport Confrontation and Subsequent Abduction
Upon their arrival, they were intercepted by the agency's proprietor, P Jayamohan, and his brother-in-law, V Arun Pandian. The two men attempted to forcibly take Sarathkumar and his girlfriend away in a car from the airport premises. Alert bystanders notified the police, leading to all four individuals being taken to the St Thomas Mount police station.
After providing written statements, they were all released. However, the situation escalated two days later. On December 28, the family members of the agency owner, who are based in Tamil Nadu, allegedly detained the couple.
Police Rescue and Manhunt for Suspects
The crisis came to light when Sarathkumar's brother, Saravanakumar, contacted the Chennai police control room from Trichy on Monday night. He reported that his brother and the girlfriend were being held illegally. Acting swiftly, police teams rushed to a house located at Thiruthanigai Palace in Dhanalakshmi Nagar, Saligramam.
The officers successfully rescued the couple around 11:30 PM. The Virugambakkam police have now launched a search to locate and apprehend the two primary suspects, Jayamohan and Arun Pandian, who are currently absconding. The investigation into the allegations of both misappropriation and illegal detention is ongoing.
