According to police reports, Kalaiselvan, who worked as a load van driver, was traveling with his friend Balaji in an auto when the incident occurred. While nearing Prakasam Salai, a drunk Kalaiselvan urinated from the auto, soiling the clothes of a woman pedestrian passing by. The woman immediately complained, leading to an argument between her and the two men. In response, nearby individuals intervened to defend the woman, escalating the situation into a violent attack on Kalaiselvan and Balaji.
During the assault, Kalaiselvan fell unconscious, and Balaji suffered severe injuries. Upon receiving information, Kalaiselvan's brother, Kalaivanan, rushed to the scene and transported him to Government Stanley Hospital. Tragically, Kalaiselvan was declared dead on arrival. Kalaivanan has accused the police of negligence, noting that the incident happened near a police station and that authorities failed to call an ambulance promptly. He demanded immediate arrests, stating, "Those who attacked and killed my brother must be arrested immediately."
