Chennai Mother and Lover Arrested for Drugging and Raping Daughter
In a shocking case from Chennai, police have arrested a woman for allegedly drugging her 20-year-old daughter with sleeping pills to enable her lover to commit rape. The male perpetrator, identified as the woman's boyfriend, has also been taken into custody following a complaint filed by the survivor.
Details of the Heinous Crime
According to police reports, the daughter had stopped communicating with her mother after discovering her romantic relationship with the man. The situation escalated in May of last year when the mother gave her daughter a pill under the pretext of treating an illness. The survivor lost consciousness after taking the medication, during which time the man sexually assaulted her. Upon regaining consciousness and complaining of pain, the mother dismissed her daughter's concerns, failing to report the crime.
Second Incident and Pregnancy Discovery
A similar attack occurred in January of this year. While visiting her grandmother in Tiruvannamalai, the survivor fell ill, prompting a medical examination. This examination revealed that she was pregnant, leading to further investigation. Based on the survivor's detailed complaint, police swiftly acted to arrest both the woman and her lover. The case highlights severe breaches of trust and parental responsibility, with authorities emphasizing the importance of victim support in such traumatic situations.
Police are continuing their investigation to ensure all aspects of the case are thoroughly examined, and the perpetrators face legal consequences. This incident underscores ongoing concerns about domestic violence and exploitation within families.
