Chennai Double Murder Suspect Apprehended After Lengthy Fugitive Period
In a significant breakthrough, the Kotturpuram police in Chennai successfully arrested a 22-year-old suspect on Thursday, bringing an end to a nearly 10-month manhunt. The individual, identified as Manoj, had been evading authorities after failing to appear for court proceedings related to a brutal double murder case.
Details of the Gruesome Crime
The case dates back to March 16, 2025, when a violent incident unfolded in the Kotturpuram area. According to police reports, Manoj, along with 10 other suspects, allegedly hacked and murdered two young men: Arun, aged 25, and his friend Suresh, aged 24. The attack was described as particularly savage, leading to swift police action initially.
Following the crime, all suspects were promptly arrested. However, while the other 10 individuals cooperated with the legal process and appeared for case proceedings, Manoj managed to secure bail and subsequently vanished, going underground to avoid prosecution.
Legal Actions and Intensive Search Operation
In response to Manoj's disappearance, the sessions judge issued a formal arrest warrant against him on March 23, 2025. The court explicitly directed the police to locate, arrest, and produce him before the judicial authorities without delay.
Acting on this directive, the Kotturpuram police launched an extensive investigation to trace the fugitive. After months of diligent efforts and surveillance, they finally pinpointed his location at a concealed hideout in the Nanganallur neighborhood of Chennai.
Arrest and Judicial Proceedings
Upon his capture, Manoj was immediately taken into custody. He has since been remanded to judicial custody, where he will remain as the legal proceedings against him advance.
