Chhattisgarh Pastor Held for Alleged Conversion at Prayer Meet

Raipur: A prayer meeting held at a village home in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir-Champa district led to the arrest of a pastor and a homeowner after members of a right-wing organisation alleged it was being used to promote religious conversion.

Incident at Udayband Village

The incident was reported from Udayband village, where a “changai sabha” (healing prayer meeting) was organised on Thursday. Police said action followed a complaint by Satish Soni, who alleged villagers were invited on the pretext of treatment for illnesses and encouraged to embrace Christian beliefs.

The complaint alleged participants were told ailments could be cured through prayer and “holy water”, while Christian literature was distributed. Objectionable remarks against Hindu deities were also alleged.
