Chiplun Police Crack Murder Case of Malad Engineer, Arrest Real Estate Agent and Accomplice
In a significant breakthrough, Chiplun police in Ratnagiri district have successfully solved the murder of Ehjazhussain Faiyazhusain Qureshi, a 54-year-old mechanical engineer from Malad. The skeletal remains of the victim were discovered on farmland in Rampur village on March 28, approximately four months after he was reported missing.
Swift Arrests Made Within 24 Hours
Within just 24 hours of the discovery, police arrested the prime accused, Vishal Khoddekar, a 28-year-old real estate agent based in Rampur, along with his aide and lover, Jannatunisa Khan, a 34-year-old woman from Malad. The arrests were made following a thorough investigation that linked the remains to Qureshi's missing person complaint filed on November 25.
Key Evidence Leads to Breakthrough
Police Inspector Fulchand Mengade revealed that a tip-off from Dr. Raorane of Rampur village led officers to the crime scene, where they found partially burnt human bones, silver rings, house keys, and a steel intramedullary nail. Medical reports confirmed the remains were human, and further investigation connected them to Qureshi's case.
Qureshi's wife had previously suspected Khoddekar due to a monetary dispute, and she confirmed that her husband had a steel rod implanted in his leg, which helped in identifying the remains. This crucial detail provided a direct link between the victim and the evidence found at the site.
Confession Reveals Motive Behind the Murder
During interrogation, Khoddekar confessed that the murder stemmed from a dispute over a Rs 4 lakh rental deposit involving Jannatunisa Khan. The financial disagreement escalated, leading to Qureshi's death. Both accused have been remanded to police custody until April 4, as the investigation continues to uncover further details.
