The Counter Intelligence (CI) Wing of the Punjab Police arrested two individuals in Amritsar and recovered hand grenades from their possession, officials said on Saturday.
Arrest and Recovery
The accused were identified as Jaspreet Singh and Gurpreet Singh, both residents of Amritsar. They were apprehended near the G.T. Road area based on a tip-off. Police recovered two hand grenades from their possession.
Police Investigation
According to a senior police officer, the accused were planning to carry out a major criminal act. The CI Wing is interrogating them to ascertain their links with other criminal elements and possible handlers. Preliminary investigations suggest they may have been in touch with anti-social elements across the border.
Security Measures
The police have heightened security in the region following the recovery. Additional forces have been deployed in sensitive areas. The public has been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
