In a concerning incident on Monday, two circle officers from Jharkhand sustained significant injuries when the official vehicle they were traveling in collided with a tipper truck on National Highway 139. The accident occurred as both officers were en route to Daltonganj to attend an important administrative meeting.
Officers and Driver Hospitalized Following Impact
The injured officials have been identified as Sanjay Kumar Singh, the Circle Officer of Naudeeha Bazar, and Jitender Kumar, the Circle Officer of Pipra. According to local police reports, the driver of their vehicle, Ravinder Prasad Thakur, also suffered injuries in the collision and required medical attention.
Dr. Rajesh Agrawal, the deputy medical superintendent of Chhaterpur sub-divisional hospital, provided detailed updates on their conditions. "Sanjay received stitches on his head and is currently doing fine," Dr. Agrawal stated. "Jitender suffered a fracture on his left wrist and is receiving appropriate treatment. The driver, Ravinder Prasad Thakur, sustained an abdominal injury and is under observation."
Wrong-Side Driving Suspected as Primary Cause
Preliminary investigations by authorities suggest that the accident resulted from one of the vehicles traveling on the wrong side of the highway. This dangerous maneuver led to the direct collision between the officers' vehicle and the tipper truck on the busy NH-139 corridor.
Officer in charge of the Chhaterpur police station, Prashant Prasad, confirmed that police have taken immediate action. "We have seized the tipper truck involved in the accident for further investigation," Prasad reported. "However, the driver of the truck fled from the scene immediately after the collision. Our teams are working to locate and apprehend him."
