Clash Between Transport Groups in Patas: Firing and Stone Pelting Reported

A tense situation unfolded in Patas, located in Daund taluka, on Friday afternoon as two groups of transport operators engaged in a violent confrontation. The altercation involved stone pelting and even gunfire, though no injuries were reported from the shooting.

Police Investigation Underway

Senior Inspector Nayaran Deshmukh of Yavat police stated, “We are investigating how many rounds were fired by the accused. We found an empty cartridge and a live cartridge at the spot.” He added that the police have detained six men from one group so far. “We have sent a team to take members of the other group into custody,” he said.

Root Cause of the Conflict

According to preliminary investigations, the dispute began when a transporter from Bedwadi village near Patas and a local transporter had a heated argument over parking their vehicles near a factory for loading material. “After the argument, the duo called their accomplices. The groups pelted stones at each other. One of them fired a bullet,” explained Inspector Deshmukh.
