The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) has arrested Anil Ram, a clerk at the sub-divisional hospital in Rosera, Samastipur district, for accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. The bribe was demanded to process the pending salary and arrears of an employee.
Details of the Arrest
A team from the VIB headquarters apprehended Ram from the main road near Sub-Division Chowk under Rosera police station limits. The arrest was made after a thorough verification of the complaint lodged by Devendra Mandar, son of late Thithar Mandar, a resident of Shahru village in the Shivaji Nagar police station area of Samastipur.
Allegations and Verification
Director General of VIB, Jitendra Singh Gangwar, stated that the complainant alleged that the clerk demanded a bribe for processing pending salary and arrears totaling Rs 37 lakh, along with pension-related work. The complaint was verified, and evidence of the bribe demand was found before the registration of the case.
Raiding Operation
A raiding team led by DSP Sanjay Kumar of VIB Patna caught Anil Ram red-handed while accepting the bribe. The accused will be produced before the special vigilance court in Muzaffarpur. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
