Kochi: Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) managing director Sasidharan Kartha's wife and his son appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at its Kochi zonal office on Tuesday morning in connection with the CMRL-Exalogic case.
Jaya S Kartha, wife of Kartha, and their son Saran S Kartha presented themselves before the agency. This follows Monday's questioning of his daughter, Shibi Kartha, by the ED. The agency had recently conducted searches at CMRL offices and the residences of its directors, Kartha and his son.
The ED is expected to record statements from both Jaya and Saran soon. Additionally, the agency has summoned Veena T, daughter of opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan, for questioning on Wednesday. Fresh summons have been issued to Veena, directing her appearance.
Veena was initially scheduled to appear before the ED on Friday but informed the agency of her inability to attend due to health concerns.
The ED case stems from Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) probes into CMRL regarding alleged fraudulent cash expenses amounting to Rs 182 crore over 15 years. The ED alleges that one of CMRL's fake expenses was a payment made to Veena.
