COIMBATORE: A 13-year-old boy was allegedly murdered by two of his minor friends, with his body discovered under a bridge near Irugur on Monday, three days after he went missing. The deceased has been identified as B Dhivish, a resident of New Colony near Irugur.
Sequence of Events
According to police, Dhivish left home on Friday afternoon to go fishing with his friends at a nearby lake but failed to return. His father, Bharathiraja, filed a missing person complaint with the Singanallur police on Saturday. During initial inquiries, two of Dhivish's friends claimed that an unidentified man on a scooter, who pretended to be a relative, had taken Dhivish away. Police registered a case and continued their search efforts.
On Monday morning, authorities recovered Dhivish's body under a bridge near Irugur. Two minor boys were detained for questioning. During interrogation, it emerged that Dhivish, a 15-year-old boy, and another 13-year-old were friends. Dhivish had reportedly been staying at home for the past four months after discontinuing his studies.
Motive and Attack
Police revealed that a verbal altercation had occurred between the boys a few days prior while they were shopping. On Friday evening, the 15-year-old called Dhivish and asked him to meet near a lake close to the Masaniamman temple in Irugur. When Dhivish arrived, both suspects were present and led him to a bridge. Police stated that the 15-year-old was intoxicated. He engaged in another argument with Dhivish and then attacked him with an empty liquor bottle and a stone, resulting in his death on the spot.
Second Incident
In a separate case, an unidentified man's body was found on the bund of Aachankulam near Neelambur on Monday morning. A fisherman noticed the naked male body with visible facial injuries and alerted the Neelambur police. Police recovered the body, and forensic experts, fingerprint analysts, and dog squad teams were dispatched to examine the scene and gather evidence. The deceased has not yet been identified, and no suspects have been named. The body has been sent to ESI Hospital, Singanallur, for post-mortem examination.
