Coimbatore Police Arrest Three in Drug and Fake Currency Raid

Coimbatore: The city police on Sunday night arrested three individuals for possession of drugs and counterfeit currency notes during a raid at a house in Kurichi Housing Unit.

Details of the Arrest

The arrested trio were identified as Satham Hussain, 28, of Kurichi Housing Unit; Faisal, 38, of Mettur at Podanur; and Hakkim, 51, of Karumbukadai. According to an official source, acting on a tip-off, a special team led by Deputy Police Commissioner (South) K Karthikeyan conducted a raid at the residence of Satham Hussain, who runs a plant nursery.

Seizure of Contraband

During the search, the police team discovered potent drug pills, methamphetamine, and 184 counterfeit currency notes in the denomination of Rs 200. All the contraband and fake currency notes were seized from the premises.

Investigation and Manhunt

Preliminary investigation revealed that Sahabudeen, alias Khaja Moideen, of Karumbukadai, was procuring and supplying the counterfeit currency printing machine to the trio. A police officer stated that further interrogation is underway to uncover a wider network, if any. "We have launched a manhunt to trace and apprehend the prime suspect, Sahabudeen, who is on the run," the officer added.

Authorities are also examining possible links to other criminal activities. The police have urged the public to share any information regarding the suspect. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
