Authorities are actively urging them to file formal complaints and record statements, with assurances of robust support and strict confidentiality throughout the investigation process.
Breakthrough Achieved as Minor Girl Records Statement
The outreach teams have achieved a crucial breakthrough, with one minor girl coming forward to record her statement. A team member emphasized the strategy, stating, "We are now trying to contact the local community leaders, social workers, and religious heads to get other families and their daughters speaking." This move aims to build trust and facilitate more survivors to participate in the legal proceedings.
State Minority Commission Addresses Communal Tensions
Meanwhile, State Minority Commission Chairman Pyare Khan has reiterated that all eight survivors in this case are from the Muslim community. Addressing a press conference, Khan labeled statements made by BJP leader and former MP Navneet Rana as misleading. Rana had claimed that all survivors were Hindu and that none were burqa-clad. Khan warned that such assertions risk inciting communal tensions and called for accountability.
Khan further disclosed that complaints have been received from survivors' families seeking action against Rana under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He announced that the Commission plans to write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, demanding strict legal measures.
Religious Leaders Condemn Scandal and Call for Justice
In a unified stance, religious leaders are stepping forward to condemn the scandal. City Qazi of Achalpur-Paratwada, Syed Gaisoddin, emphasized that the case must be viewed purely as a criminal act, devoid of religious connotations. The 78-year-old cleric stated that the actions of the main accused have severely tarnished the social fabric of the town.
"We must see the accused as a criminal, not as Hindu or Muslim," Gaisoddin asserted, calling for swift and stringent legal action. He added, "Any individual trying to spread hatred or give inflammatory statements in the name of religion should face strict police action." Gaisoddin stressed that the law must apply equally to all, including political leaders, to maintain social harmony.

Khan also addressed the demolition of alleged illegal construction at the residence of the key accused, clarifying that such actions fall under local administrative jurisdiction after due notice. He revealed that the Commission has prepared a comprehensive report based on its field survey, which will be submitted to both state and central governments.
