Kota: Congress MLA from Hindoli and former minister Ashok Chandna was booked for allegedly threatening Hindoli municipality executive officer (EO) Jitendra Kumar Meena over an encroachment and lease investigation linked to one of his workers, police said Tuesday.
Based on a complaint lodged by the EO on Monday evening, Hindoli police registered a case against Chandna under Section 132 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for using force to deter a public servant from discharging duty, Section 351(2) for criminal intimidation, and provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The investigation has been handed over to the Crime Investigation Department (CID-CB).
Police said the case relates to an incident that allegedly took place on April 13 during Chandna's Jansunwai (public hearing) programme. According to the complaint, the MLA threatened the officer for conducting an inquiry into an encroachment and lease matter concerning one of his associates. The EO alleged that Chandna used abusive language and intimidated him to stop the probe.
The registration of the case marks a significant escalation in the ongoing friction between political figures and local administration in the region. The CID-CB will now conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations.
