Police Constable's Timely Intervention Rescues Exam-Going Student in Chhatarpur

In a heartwarming display of duty and compassion, a police constable in Chhatarpur turned a potential academic disaster into a moment of relief for a Class 10 student on Tuesday morning. The incident unfolded when the student, arriving breathless at the Government Maharani Lakshmi Bai Girls Higher Secondary School, discovered he was at the wrong examination centre for his crucial English paper.

A Race Against Time

The student's panic peaked as he realised his correct centre was nearly 4 kilometers away, with the examination gates scheduled to close in just five minutes. With no immediate transport available and time slipping away, his future seemed bleak. Constable Rajesh Singh Bagri, posted at the school for exam duty, immediately noticed the boy's visible distress.

"I saw the fear in his eyes—the kind that could ruin a kid's entire future," Bagri recounted. Without hesitation, he handed over his responsibilities to a colleague and sprang into action.

The Swift Rescue Mission

Utilising his police motorcycle, Constable Bagri navigated the light morning traffic with precision, covering the 4-kilometer distance in exactly five minutes. He dropped the student at the correct examination centre just as the gates were about to shut, ensuring the boy could sit for his paper without further delay.

"It was simply my duty as a policeman to step in," Bagri stated modestly. "A small gesture like this can save an entire academic year for a student."

Recognition and Praise from Officials

The constable's quick thinking did not go unnoticed. Centre officials and onlookers applauded the gesture, with many terming it "smart policing" and calling for departmental recognition of his timely assistance.

Assistant Center Head Sarita Chaurasia explained that staff members were pinned to their posts and unable to intervene. "This is an exemplary act demonstrated by the police," Chaurasia said. "Due to his timely support, the student's academics were safeguarded."

The incident highlights:

  • The critical role of police presence during examination periods
  • The importance of community-oriented policing in educational settings
  • How individual initiative can prevent significant academic setbacks

This act of kindness serves as a reminder that beyond maintaining law and order, police officers often play vital roles in supporting citizens during moments of personal crisis, particularly in the high-pressure environment of board examinations.
