A couple was among three individuals arrested in connection with the murder of a man on May 2, following an illicit relationship, under the Tatisilwaye police station limits in Ranchi. The victim, Kamlesh Kumar, was killed, and his body was discovered the next day on the Ring Road near Mankidhipha, according to police reports.
Arrests and Identification
The arrested suspects have been identified as Shivnath Kumar (33), his wife Angita Devi (28), and their associate Sahil Raza (19). Police confirmed their custody after a targeted operation.
Details of the Crime
SP (Rural) Gautam Goswani stated, “Based on technical inputs and raids, a special team formed to solve the case apprehended the accused on Tuesday from their homes located under the Tatisilwaye and Angara police station limits. During interrogation, the accused revealed that Angita was involved in an extra-marital affair with Kamlesh. When Kamlesh married another woman, Angita complained to her husband that Kamlesh had been physically harassing her for a long time. The couple then conspired to murder him. Under the plan, Angita called Kamlesh to her home and drugged him. Shivnath then strangled Kamlesh to death and, with Sahil’s assistance, transported the body to the Ring Road on a scooter.”
Attempt to Stage the Murder as an Accident
Sahil, who worked as a helper for Shivnath and owned a truck, was involved in the cover-up. The accused drove the truck over Kamlesh’s body to make the murder appear like a road accident.
Seizure of Evidence
Police have seized three mobile phones, along with the truck and scooter used in the crime, from the accused individuals.
