In a disturbing incident in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the Pundalik Nagar police have registered a formal offence against a husband-wife duo from Newasa taluka in Ahilyanagar district. The couple stands accused of allegedly abusing, assaulting, and threatening traffic personnel, leading to a chaotic scene on a busy road.
Details of the Sunday Afternoon Altercation
The confrontation unfolded around 4:30 pm on Sunday at a traffic signal located near the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court. According to police reports, the man was riding a motorcycle with his wife as a pillion passenger. Traffic police stopped the bike at the signal, which prompted the man to object vehemently and engage in a heated argument with the officers.
Following the initial exchange, the situation escalated rapidly. The man allegedly began hurling abuses at the police officers and proceeded to slap one of them. Shockingly, his wife is accused of actively aiding him in this aggressive behavior, compounding the severity of the incident.
Disruption of Traffic and Suspected Intoxication
In a further attempt to defy authority, the accused man then lay down on the busy road, deliberately trying to disrupt vehicular traffic. This act not only endangered public safety but also created significant congestion in the area.
