Couple killed in Akola truck-bike crash, driver arrested

A tragic accident occurred on the Akola-Daryapur road near Kharab village early Friday morning, claiming the lives of a farmer couple. Vijay Ingle and his wife Pratibha, residents of Kharab, were riding a motorcycle when a speeding truck rammed into them from behind around 5:30 am. The couple died on the spot, with the woman thrown nearly 50-60 feet away. Parts of the motorcycle, including the front wheel, were found scattered at a distance.

Driver flees, villagers protest

Following the collision, the truck driver fled the scene, sparking outrage among local residents. Angry villagers staged a road blockade for nearly half an hour, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. They insisted that the bodies should not be moved until the driver was apprehended. The protest caused significant traffic disruption on the road.

Police action and arrest

Acting swiftly, the Civil Lines police launched a search operation and managed to trace and seize the truck within a short time. The driver was taken into custody, and further legal action is currently underway. The police are investigating the incident, and charges are expected to be filed soon.
