CPM Worker Arrested for Creating Ruckus at Kottarakkara Hospital After Drunk Driving Incident
In a disturbing incident in Kottarakkara, a worker from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) was arrested for allegedly creating a major disturbance at a taluk hospital. The accused, identified as Rajneesh, a native of Moozhikode and a member of the CPM Kottathala town branch committee, was brought to the hospital for a mandatory medical examination following his apprehension for drunk driving in connection with a road accident on Saturday night.
Details of the Accident and Subsequent Events
According to police reports, the car driven by Rajneesh reportedly overturned near Panayil Junction around 8 pm. The accident resulted in minor injuries to all three occupants of the vehicle, including Rajneesh himself. When officers arrived at the scene, Rajneesh attempted to flee but was quickly chased down and apprehended by the police.
Following standard procedure, he was taken to the Kottarakkara taluk hospital for a medical examination. It was at this hospital that the situation escalated dramatically.
Hospital Disturbance and Police Station Incident
Police stated that Rajneesh allegedly abused hospital staff and police personnel, attempted to assault them, and even damaged the casualty outpatient counter. His aggressive behavior did not stop there. After the hospital incident, he continued to create a ruckus at the police station by shouting obscenities and behaving in an extremely aggressive manner towards the officers.
This series of events led to his formal arrest on multiple charges related to the disturbance and his earlier drunk driving offense.
Background of the Accused
Further investigation revealed that Rajneesh is not a first-time offender. Police confirmed that he is an accused in approximately five other cases, though the specific nature of these prior charges was not immediately disclosed. This history of legal troubles adds a concerning dimension to the current incident, highlighting potential patterns of behavior.
The case has drawn attention to issues of public safety and the conduct of political party workers in Kerala. Local authorities are continuing their investigation into both the accident and the subsequent disturbances at the hospital and police station.
