Cross FIRs in Delhi Dog Assault and Guard Attack Case

New Delhi: Police have registered cross-cases after videos related to the assault of a stray dog and a security guard in west Delhi's Kirti Nagar surfaced online. According to police, guard Vinod Paswan allegedly hit a stray dog with an iron rod on May 7, leading to severe injuries and the animal's subsequent death during treatment.

FIR Against Guard Under Animal Cruelty Act

Following a complaint, an FIR under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and BNS provisions was registered against him. Police said the guard also accused animal activist Jasmeet Kaur and others of assaulting him outside the police station. A separate FIR has been registered on his complaint. Investigation is underway.

The incident has sparked outrage among animal rights activists and local residents. The dog, which was a familiar presence in the area, succumbed to its injuries despite veterinary care. Meanwhile, the guard's allegations of assault are being investigated separately. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and gathering witness statements to ascertain the sequence of events.
