Tension gripped Jhikrahati village in Jharkhand's Pakur district after crude bombs were hurled during a violent group clash, stemming from a dispute during New Year celebrations. The incident, which caused significant panic among residents, occurred under the jurisdiction of the Muffasil police station.
New Year Picnic Turns Violent
According to police, the roots of the conflict trace back to January 1. A clash erupted during a picnic organized in a field near Jhikrahati village to mark the New Year. Two groups allegedly got into a heated argument at the picnic site, which quickly escalated into a fierce physical confrontation.
Failed Peace Talks and Bomb Attack
In an attempt to resolve the matter, a meeting was held later that night under the supervision of the village head, or mukhiya. However, the peace efforts proved futile. Tensions flared up once again, leading to a dangerous escalation. One group allegedly threw three crude bombs, sending waves of fear through the village community.
Acting swiftly on receiving information, Muffasil police station in-charge Kumar Gaurav reached the spot with his team. Unfortunately, by the time they arrived, the accused individuals had already fled the scene.
Police Investigation and Damage Assessment
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Dayanand Azad confirmed the sequence of events. "A search operation was carried out in the village, but no arrests have been made so far," Azad stated. He explicitly confirmed that the three bombs were thrown from one side during the clash.
While no injuries were reported from the bomb attack, the officer confirmed that some houses in the village sustained damage. The police have assured the public of strict action against those involved. A formal case has been registered in connection with the entire incident, and investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the culprits.
The atmosphere in Jhikrahati remains uneasy as authorities work to restore normalcy and prevent any further outbreak of violence.
