CSP Operator Shot and Robbed of Rs 5 Lakh in Siwan, Bihar
A customer service point (CSP) operator was brutally shot and robbed of Rs 5 lakh near Babhnauli village under the jurisdiction of Mahadeva police station in Siwan district on Friday. The victim, identified as Ashok Patel, aged 45, operates a CSP at the local village market and is a resident of Kalyanpur under Sarai police station.
Details of the Armed Robbery
The incident occurred when Patel was returning from Siwan town after withdrawing Rs 5 lakh from an Axis Bank branch. According to his statement, three armed assailants on a motorcycle intercepted him without warning. When Patel resisted the robbery attempt, the criminals opened fire indiscriminately, leaving him injured on the road. The attackers then fled the scene with the cash-filled bag.
Patel recounted, "I run a CSP of Gramin Bank in the village market. During noon hours, I was returning to the village after withdrawing Rs 5 lakh from Axis Bank located in the town. Meanwhile, near Babhnauli village, three criminals on a bike approached me from behind and started indiscriminate firing without any warning. As soon as the bullets hit me, I fell on the road, after which the criminals fled with the money kept in a bag."
Aftermath and Police Investigation
Following the shooting, local residents quickly rushed the injured Patel to Sadar Hospital and alerted the police. He sustained three bullet wounds: one in the waist, one in the leg, and one in the back. Due to his critical condition, he was referred to another medical facility for advanced treatment after receiving initial care.
Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ajay Kumar Singh visited the hospital to record Patel's statement. Singh confirmed, "The investigation into the case has been initiated and raids are being conducted for the arrest of the criminals." Authorities are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the perpetrators involved in this violent crime.
This incident highlights growing concerns about safety and security in the region, particularly for individuals handling significant cash transactions. The local community has expressed alarm over the brazen nature of the attack, which occurred in broad daylight.
