Customs officials at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru have seized hydroponic ganja worth Rs 3.57 crore from a passenger who arrived from Bangkok. The contraband, weighing 10.2 kg, was discovered concealed in the checked-in baggage of the flyer.
Details of the Seizure
The incident took place on June 8, 2026, when a passenger arriving from Bangkok was intercepted by customs personnel. Upon inspection, the officials found the hydroponic ganja carefully hidden inside the luggage. The street value of the seized narcotics is estimated at Rs 3.57 crore.
Modus Operandi
According to sources, the ganja was packed in vacuum-sealed bags to avoid detection by sniffer dogs and scanning machines. The passenger has been taken into custody for further investigation.
This is not the first such seizure at the airport. In recent months, authorities have stepped up surveillance on flights from Southeast Asia, which is known as a major transit route for drug trafficking.
The customs department has launched a detailed probe to trace the origin of the drugs and identify any links to larger syndicates operating in the region.
