Old remarks by INDIA bloc leaders targeting Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi surfaced at several prominent locations across the national capital on Monday, ahead of a crucial meeting of Opposition parties. The posters appeared near Ashoka Road and at multiple roundabouts in central Delhi just hours before leaders of opposition parties were scheduled to meet to discuss the alliance’s future strategy.
Poster Campaign Highlights Internal Contradictions
Featuring photographs of several INDIA bloc leaders, the posters highlighted old remarks made by leaders who are now part of the Opposition coalition. Among those quoted were Sharad Pawar, Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal and Pinarayi Vijayan, among others. One poster attributed to Sharad Pawar said that Rahul Gandhi “lacks consistency.” Another carried a remark attributed to Arvind Kejriwal saying, “People say we are weakening the Congress. How can I weaken the Congress? Rahul Gandhi himself is doing that job very well.”
More Quotes from Alliance Partners
The posters also carried the message: “If INDIA alliance partners are fighting among themselves, how will they fight together?” Another poster quoted Mamata Banerjee as saying, “The Congress is losing its credibility. We cannot depend on the Congress.” A separate poster attributed to Pinarayi Vijayan read: “Rahul Gandhi is a national-level leader, yet he does not possess even the level of understanding that an ordinary local Congress worker has.”
Visuals across the capital also showed posters carrying images of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Tamil Nadu leaders and Left leaders, underscoring the political messaging aimed at highlighting contradictions within the opposition alliance. The posters appeared amid reports of growing strains within the INDIA bloc, with differences emerging among constituent parties over political strategy and leadership issues.
While Congress has maintained that the alliance remains united, the poster campaign shifted the spotlight to past criticism exchanged among its partners, even as Opposition leaders gathered in Delhi to project a common front against the BJP.
