Tragic End for Young Breadwinner

A 19-year-old deaf youth, who served as the only earning member for his widowed mother, met with a tragic end on Tuesday when he was struck by a train in Patharkandi, located in Sribhumi district. The victim, identified as Pritam Ghosh from Patharkandi, supported his family through his daily earnings.

The Fateful Morning

According to local residents, Pritam had left his home for work on Tuesday morning when the unfortunate incident occurred. Police officials stated that the young man was crossing the railway tracks when the Agartala–Guwahati passenger train hit him. The collision reportedly happened due to a moment of inattention while he was attempting to cross the tracks.

The impact of the collision was severe enough to sever his leg and throw him off the railway track. Local people discovered the injured youth lying in a pool of blood near the tracks and immediately rushed him to the Patharkandi community health centre for medical treatment.

Medical Response and Investigation

Despite the prompt response from residents who transported him to the healthcare facility, doctors at the community health centre declared him brought dead upon arrival. The grim discovery and subsequent medical confirmation marked the tragic conclusion to what had begun as a regular workday morning for the young man.

Following the incident, Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel reached the accident site and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event. The body was subsequently transferred to the Sribhumi civil hospital where a postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

The untimely death of Pritam Ghosh has left his widowed mother without her sole provider, casting a shadow of grief over the family and local community.
