Gurgaon: The decomposed body of a woman was discovered in a forested area in Sector 83 on Friday at 3 pm. Authorities are working to confirm the woman's identity, police said.
Body Found in Advanced State of Decomposition
According to police, the body appeared to have been lying in the area for several days, and due to its decomposed state, immediate identification was difficult. Senior police officials, including DCP (West) Karan Goyal, visited the spot along with teams from the crime branch, forensic science laboratory, and scene-of-crime unit. They inspected the area and collected evidence.
Investigation and Leads
Police questioned residents and workers in nearby areas to identify the deceased, but no breakthrough was made. Investigators are examining whether the woman died at the location or whether her body was brought there from elsewhere. The body has been kept at the mortuary pending identification.
A police officer stated that the autopsy will be conducted after 72 hours if the body remains unidentified. “The autopsy report will clarify if the victim was sexually assaulted or not,” a cop said.
Police Efforts to Identify the Victim
Police have circulated details through the zonal integrated police network and shared information with police units in neighboring districts and adjoining states. “We are also checking records of missing women and gathering information about any recent missing-person complaints that may be linked to the case,” said Sandeep Turan, police spokesperson.
Police urged the public to contact the nearest police station if they have information about a missing woman matching the description of the deceased. Further clarity regarding the cause of death is expected after post-mortem and forensic reports are received.
