Dehradun Police Crack Murder Case with Husband's Arrest
In a significant breakthrough, the Dehradun police have claimed to have solved the brutal murder of a woman whose body was discovered stuffed in a plastic sack in the Premnagar area on March 11. Victim Identified as Rupa Sharma from Bihar

However, through diligent efforts, the victim was later confirmed to be Rupa Sharma, a 32-year-old native of Saharsa, Bihar. She had been residing in Dehradun with her husband, Ranjit Sharma, who is also 32 years old and hails from the same hometown in Bihar.
Complex Marital History Unraveled
According to SSP Pramendra Dobal, the couple's marriage in 2009 took a tumultuous turn when Rupa eloped with another man four years ago and remarried him. During this period, Ranjit also entered into a second marriage and was living with his new wife in Dehradun. The situation grew more complicated last year when Rupa returned to Dehradun with her 11-month-old daughter from her second husband and began cohabiting with Ranjit once again.
Dobal elaborated that Rupa started exerting pressure on Ranjit to abandon his second wife, who was staying with her parents. This tension set the stage for the tragic events that followed.
Fatal Argument Leads to Murder
The police investigation revealed that on March 5, a heated argument erupted between the couple while Ranjit was on a phone call with his second wife. "She snatched his phone and demanded that he leave his second wife. The dispute quickly escalated, and in a fit of rage, Ranjit strangled her to death," stated SSP Dobal. Following the murder, Ranjit took calculated steps to conceal his crime.
