In a shocking incident in Dehradun, a 21-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend, both MCA students at a private university in the Clement Town area, with a kitchen knife. The attack, driven by jealousy, left the woman with serious injuries, though both victims are now reported to be out of danger.

Details of the Violent Altercation

According to Dehradun SP (City) Pramod Kumar, the accused, identified as Uday Singh, had been in a relationship with the woman since September last year. The incident unfolded on Saturday morning when Singh, who lived in rented accommodation in the area with three others, went to meet the woman. He confronted her after discovering that she had been speaking to another man, leading to a heated argument.

During the confrontation, Singh suddenly produced a kitchen knife and attacked the woman, inflicting serious injuries. In the ensuing altercation, Singh also sustained injuries. Police were alerted and rushed both individuals to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Arrest and Legal Proceedings

The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by the woman's father, who alleged that Singh attacked with the intent to kill. Following the incident, while the woman continues to undergo treatment, Singh was discharged from the hospital. He was promptly arrested, and the knife used in the attack was recovered as evidence.

On Sunday afternoon, Singh was produced before a local court, where he was remanded to jail. Authorities emphasized that the investigation revealed Singh's rage was triggered by jealousy, highlighting the volatile nature of the situation.

This incident underscores concerns about relationship violence among students in educational settings, prompting calls for increased awareness and support mechanisms.
