Delhi Witnesses Tragic Friday with Multiple Fatal Road Accidents
In a series of devastating incidents that highlight the ongoing road safety crisis in the capital, five individuals lost their lives in three separate road accidents across Delhi on Friday. The victims included a government schoolteacher, a mother and her teenage son, and two friends, all of whom met with fatal collisions involving heavy vehicles.
Mother-Son Duo Perishes in Narela Collision
The first tragic incident occurred in north-west Delhi's Narela area, where a 16-year-old boy and his 40-year-old mother were killed after their Scooty rammed into a truck on the Old Narela-Bawana Road. Police at Narela police station received information about the accident around 3 pm on Friday.
The victims, residents of Dariyapur Kalan, were traveling from Narela towards Bawana when the collision happened near a Jain temple, close to the Rajeev Awas Yojana complex. Both suffered critical injuries in the impact and were rushed to separate hospitals for emergency treatment.
Tragically, the teenage boy was declared brought dead upon arrival at BJRM Hospital, while his mother succumbed to her injuries at Valmiki Hospital despite medical efforts. Police have apprehended the truck driver involved in the collision, and legal proceedings are currently underway.
Schoolteacher Killed in Adarsh Nagar
In another heartbreaking incident in north-west Delhi's Adarsh Nagar area, a 30-year-old government schoolteacher lost her life after her Scooty was struck by a water tanker on Shah Alam Bandh Road, also known as the 51-Feet Road.
Police received a PCR call at Adarsh Nagar police station at 2.22 pm reporting the accident. The victim, identified as Naaz, was a resident of Jahangirpuri and died instantly at the scene from the severe impact of the collision.
Naaz served as an English teacher at a government girls' secondary school in Burari, making her untimely death particularly poignant for the educational community. The tanker driver, 59-year-old Jagdev Singh from Azadpur, was detained at the accident site by authorities.
The incident prompted an emotional gathering of family members and local residents at the location, necessitating police deployment to maintain law and order in the area.
Two Friends Killed in Pul Prahladpur
The third fatal accident occurred in south-east Delhi's Pul Prahladpur area during the early hours of Friday. Police received information about this incident around 4 am and dispatched a team to investigate.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered two men lying severely injured. Both victims were immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel declared them brought dead upon arrival.
Initial investigations suggest that the two friends, who were riding a motorcycle, fell from their vehicle and were subsequently run over by a truck approaching from behind. The duo was reportedly returning to Surajkund after completing their work assignments in south-east Delhi when the tragedy occurred.
