A 50-year-old woman succumbed to her burn injuries on Monday, raising the death toll to four in the building fire that occurred in southeast Delhi's Tughlaqabad Extension, police said. The deceased, identified as Guddi Devi, resided on the third floor of the building. Her son Pankaj Kumar Pandey (28), daughter Soni (20), and mother Sushila Devi (70) had previously lost their lives in the incident.
According to a police officer, Guddi Devi suffered severe burn injuries in the fire and was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital, where she died during treatment. Following her death, her 18-year-old daughter Moni, who was also injured in the blaze, remains the sole surviving member of the family and is currently undergoing treatment.
Separate Car Fire Incident in Alipur
In another incident, one person died and two others were injured after a car caught fire early Tuesday in Outer Delhi's Alipur area. Investigators reported that the Alipur police station received information around 1:25 am. Police officers rushed to the scene and discovered that the three injured occupants had already been taken to a hospital by a PCR van. One of them later succumbed to injuries, while the other two were referred to a higher medical center.
The vehicle was completely destroyed in the fire. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
