In a chilling case of premeditated violence, a dairy businessman was brutally gunned down in south Delhi's Fatehpur Beri area. The victim, identified as Ratan, was ambushed on his way to work, with a forensic examination revealing a shocking 69 bullets inside his body.
Reconnaissance and a Half-Hour Wait Before the Kill
Police investigation has uncovered disturbing details of planning behind the murder. According to sources, the shooters travelled from neighbouring Faridabad in Haryana to execute the hit. They did not strike immediately but are believed to have waited at the scene for nearly half an hour, likely conducting final reconnaissance before opening fire.
Ratan's family described a brutal ambush. He was on his way to his dairy in Aya Nagar on Sunday when attackers surrounded him. "Within 10 minutes of him leaving, he was brutally killed," said his brother, Ram Kumar. Another relative, Dharmender, stated the attackers had scouted the area, arriving in a car and a motorcycle and circling while waiting for their target.
Family Feud and a Past Murder Suspected as Motive
The murder appears deeply rooted in a personal rivalry and a long-standing dispute. Ratan's family has pointed fingers at a bitter land dispute between two families, which escalated dramatically six months ago. In May, Ratan's son, Deepak, was arrested for allegedly murdering a man. Since that incident, Ratan had been receiving regular death threats.
Police are actively probing the possible role of a relative of the man killed by Deepak. A senior officer confirmed the murder seems connected to personal enmity, though all angles are being examined. The investigation suggests 12 to 13 people were involved in the coordinated attack, during which more than 70 rounds were fired.
Manhunt Underway, No Arrests Made Yet
As of now, no arrests have been made in the case. Authorities are scanning CCTV footage from the area and collecting other forensic evidence to identify and track down all the individuals involved in this calculated killing. The police are treating this as a case of a well-planned assassination, given the time the assailants spent waiting and the sheer volume of firepower used.
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the deadly consequences of unresolved personal and property conflicts. The police continue their investigation, aiming to piece together the final movements of the assailants and establish the complete chain of events leading to the murder.
