Delhi Fire: Nine Rescued, Hospitalised After Smoke Inhalation

A late-night blaze in a four-storey residential building in Delhi's Shahdara area resulted in nine people, including women and a minor girl, being hospitalised after they experienced breathing difficulties due to smoke inhalation, officials confirmed on Sunday.

Incident Details

The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) received a call about the fire at D-45 in Mansarover Park at 12:03 am. Three fire tenders and a water bowser were promptly dispatched to the scene. A senior fire official reported that the fire originated from domestic articles stored in the parking area on the ground floor. Smoke rapidly spread throughout the building, trapping residents on various floors.

Rescue Operation

During the rescue operation, DFS personnel evacuated nine individuals from the building and transported them to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital after they complained of breathing difficulties caused by smoke inhalation. The injured were identified as Vanshika (20), Tanishka Soni (19), Durgesh (49), Yogesh Verma (50), Raj Rani (65), Arun Garg (48), Ananya (12), Renu Garg (19), and Prateek Garg (19). Officials stated that all rescued individuals were admitted to GTB Hospital and kept under observation.

Fire Contained

The fire was subsequently brought under control. Officials added that the exact cause of the blaze is yet to be determined.
