Delhi Fog Accident: Punjab Man Dies En Route to Airport

Tragic Fog-Related Accident Claims Life of Punjab Man En Route to Delhi Airport

A devastating multi-vehicle collision on a major Delhi roadway has resulted in the death of a 55-year-old man from Punjab who was traveling to drop off his son at the airport. The incident occurred amid severely reduced visibility due to dense fog, highlighting the dangers of winter driving conditions in the region.

Details of the Fatal Early Morning Crash

According to police reports, the accident took place in the early hours of Saturday on the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) near Dwarka in West Delhi. Chhaju Singh, a resident of Channuwala village in Punjab, was in a taxi with his son Amandeep Singh and three other occupants when their vehicle became involved in a chain collision.

The police received a PCR call about the multi-vehicle pile-up at the Baba Haridas Nagar police station, prompting immediate response teams to rush to the scene near Jharoda Kalan. Upon arrival, officers discovered several vehicles had been involved in the accident on the stretch leading toward Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Sequence of Events and Emergency Response

Preliminary investigations indicate that the taxi bearing Punjab registration plates was the last vehicle to crash into the existing pile-up. The impact proved fatal for Chhaju Singh, who sustained critical injuries in the collision.

Emergency responders transported the injured man to Tarak Hospital, where medical professionals declared him dead upon arrival. Police officials noted that heavy fog and poor visibility likely contributed significantly to the tragic incident.

Aftermath and Ongoing Procedures

Following the accident, authorities worked to clear the involved vehicles from the roadway to restore normal traffic flow. The post-mortem examination of the deceased is currently being conducted, with further legal proceedings underway according to standard protocol.

This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the hazards presented by dense fog conditions, particularly on high-speed roadways connecting to critical transportation hubs like Delhi's international airport.
