In a tragic incident in the national capital, two cousins were killed in a hit-and-run accident on Ashoka Road late Tuesday night. The victims, identified as 24-year-old Ravi and 22-year-old Sumit, were returning home after watching an Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium.

Details of the Incident

The accident occurred around 11:30 PM when the duo was crossing the road near Ashoka Road. A speeding car, reportedly a black sedan, hit them and fled the scene. Both cousins were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were declared brought dead.

According to eyewitnesses, the car was traveling at high speed and lost control before hitting the victims. The driver did not stop to help.

Police Investigation

Delhi Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for causing death due to negligence and hit-and-run. CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify the vehicle and the driver.

Senior police officials visited the spot and assured strict action. "We are investigating the matter and will soon apprehend the accused," said a police spokesperson.

Family in Shock

The families of the victims are in deep shock. Ravi and Sumit, residents of nearby Moti Nagar, had gone to watch the IPL match together. Their sudden death has left the family devastated.

Local residents have demanded better road safety measures and strict action against drunk driving and overspeeding in the area.
