New Delhi: In a significant crackdown on illegal encroachments and organized crime, authorities demolished an unauthorized structure belonging to a notorious criminal family during a joint operation in southwest Delhi's Dabri area on Friday.
Targeted Demolition in JJ Colony
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and Delhi Police conducted the demolition drive targeting a house located in JJ colony of Uttam Nagar. According to police officials, the property was owned by Alka, wife of Manoj Nagia, both of whom have extensive criminal histories spanning multiple cases.
Criminal Background of Family Members
Police records reveal that Alka was involved in more than 28 cases registered under the Excise Act and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Her husband Manoj Nagia, also a known offender, had over 15 criminal cases against him.
The criminal activities extended to other family members as well:
- Alka's son Karan allegedly has seven cases under Excise and NDPS Acts
- Another son Gaurav alias Golu faces four cases under NDPS Act and Arms Act
- Her daughter Manisha has three cases registered under the Excise Act
Police Statement on Operation Significance
DCP (Dwarka) Ankit Singh emphasized that the demolition represented a substantial blow to organized crime networks and illegal encroachments in the region. "Such actions are aimed at dismantling the infrastructure that supports criminal networks," he stated, highlighting the strategic importance of targeting properties used by habitual offenders.
The operation forms part of an ongoing initiative by Delhi authorities to systematically address illegal constructions and properties linked to criminal elements across the city.
