In a shocking incident, Delhi Police has arrested a man accused of murdering his wife and three children in the Samaypur Badli area late Tuesday night. The accused, identified as Munchun Kewat, worked as a vegetable vendor and resided with his family in the Chandan Park locality.

During initial questioning after his arrest in Rajasthan, Kewat reportedly told police that he had taken a loan from an individual in Bihar who had been threatening him over repayment. Unable to settle the debt, he allegedly committed the murders. Police authorities have attempted to contact the person named by Kewat, but the phone was found to be switched off. Anita's brother provided crucial insights to TOI, revealing that Kewat had requested Rs 7 lakh from her father but received only Rs 2 lakh due to the family's financial constraints. "He took the money approximately a month before the murder and kept arguing with my sister over the loan and their dire financial situation," he recounted. The brother further disclosed that Kewat had borrowed money from multiple people in his native village and had a habit of gambling, which led to accumulating debts. "He gambled frequently and accumulated debt. My sister repeatedly asked him to stop," he added, highlighting the ongoing domestic strife.
Gruesome Discovery and Investigation Details
The incident came to light around 8:05 AM on February 25 when neighbors alerted the police. Upon arrival, a team discovered Anita and her three daughters lying dead on a bed, all with their throats slit by a sharp-edged weapon. The crime scene was described as harrowing by officials.
According to relatives, the discovery was made when the son of a family acquaintance went to check on Kewat after he failed to appear at Azadpur Mandi, his regular workplace. With Kewat's phone switched off, the boy was sent to the house. "I initially heard the boy screaming and thought it might be a case of theft. But he told me what happened to my family. When I went inside, I found them lying dead on the bed," a family member recounted, describing the traumatic moment.
