Delhi Police Bust Racket: 10,000 Banned Tablets Seized, One Arrested in Dwarka Raid
Delhi man arrested with 10,000 banned tablets

In a significant crackdown on the illegal drug trade, Delhi Police has apprehended a 65-year-old man from Dwarka's Chhawla area for possession of a massive quantity of prohibited tablets. The operation led to the seizure of approximately 10,000 pills that are banned under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The arrest unfolded on Tuesday when police officials, acting on a specific tip-off, conducted a raid at the suspect's residence. During the search operation, authorities discovered multiple plastic bags filled with various types of controlled substances that are strictly regulated for medical use only.

Ongoing Manhunt for Accomplice

While the elderly suspect remains in custody, investigators have revealed that his son-in-law is believed to be actively involved in the illegal operation. A massive search operation is currently underway to locate and apprehend the second suspect, who police say plays a significant role in the distribution network.

The recovered tablets include medications that are commonly abused and have severe restrictions on their sale and possession without proper medical prescription. Authorities have expressed concern about the growing trend of prescription drug abuse in the national capital region.

Legal Proceedings Initiated

Delhi Police has registered a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and is conducting further investigations to uncover the entire supply chain. Forensic analysis of the seized tablets is being conducted to determine their exact composition and potency, which will be crucial evidence in the legal proceedings.

This bust comes as part of Delhi Police's intensified campaign against drug peddling in the city, particularly focusing on the distribution of pharmaceutical drugs through illegal channels. Police officials have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking in their neighborhoods.
