Delhi Man's Tragic Suicide Recorded on Friend's Camera; Police Launch Investigation
In a shocking incident in east Delhi, a man allegedly shot himself in the chest while his friend was recording a video of him handling a pistol. The event, which occurred in the Dallupura area, has left authorities scrambling to piece together the circumstances leading to the fatal act.
According to police reports, the incident unfolded on Tuesday when the victim, identified as Pawan, was filmed by his friend loading a licensed pistol. The friend, seemingly unaware of Pawan's intentions, can be heard in the video offering tips on how to load the firearm and cautioning him, saying, "Bhai, chalana mat (Brother, don't fire it)".
Video Captures Chilling Moments Before the Tragedy
In the footage, Pawan is seen inserting a magazine into the pistol and preparing the weapon. Moments later, he places the pistol against the left side of his chest, briefly glances towards the camera, and pulls the trigger. He immediately collapses to the ground, with his friend expressing utter shock and disbelief at the sudden turn of events.
Police rushed Pawan to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Officials confirmed that the friend's mobile phone, containing the critical video evidence, has been seized. Additionally, the licensed pistol along with ten live cartridges has been taken into custody for further examination.
Forensic Teams Scrutinize Scene and Evidence
Crime and forensic teams conducted thorough inspections at both the scene of the occurrence and the hospital where Pawan was treated. They collected all relevant evidence to aid in the investigation. The body has been shifted to the LBS Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather medico-legal insights.
Based on preliminary findings from the video evidence and initial inquiries, a case has been registered under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act. Authorities are delving deeper to rule out any negligence or other angles that might have contributed to this tragic incident.
