Delhi Minor Held for Arson Over Refused Vehicle Loan

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police has apprehended a minor accused of setting a vehicle on fire after its owner refused to lend it to him in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar. Police stated that the boy was also allegedly brandishing weapons on social media platforms in an attempt to create fear and assert criminal dominance in the area.

Social Media Monitoring Leads to Arrest

During routine social media monitoring, police noticed a minor boy allegedly openly brandishing firearms and glorifying criminal activities through posts, videos, and status updates on various social media platforms. The goal was to create fear and project criminal dominance among local youths and residents. He was later apprehended by the authorities.

Confession and Motive

“During questioning, he told us that through such activities, he was trying to create fear among local residents and establish his dominance among local youths and anti-social elements in the area,” police said.

The teenager was wanted in an arson case in which he and his associates are accused of setting a man’s motorcycle on fire after the victim allegedly refused to lend them the vehicle to purchase alcohol. Police also noted that the boy had a tattoo related to crime.

Previous Criminal Record

Further verification revealed that the juvenile had previously been found involved in five criminal cases related to snatching, assault, mischief by fire, theft, and attempt to murder. This reflects his continued inclination towards criminal activities at a young age.
