In a significant crackdown on vehicle theft operations in the national capital, Delhi Police has apprehended two alleged serial bike thieves and recovered eight stolen motorcycles worth lakhs of rupees.
The breakthrough came following intensive investigations by the Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of northwest Delhi district, who were tracking a pattern of motorcycle thefts across the region.
Police Operation Details
According to police officials, the arrested individuals have been identified as Rahul Kumar and Vikram Singh, both residents of outer Delhi areas. The duo allegedly operated across multiple neighborhoods, targeting parked motorcycles during late night and early morning hours.
"Our team had been monitoring their activities for several weeks based on CCTV footage and victim complaints," stated a senior police officer involved in the operation.
Recovery of Stolen Property
The police recovery operation yielded significant results:
- Eight high-value motorcycles recovered from different locations
- Multiple master keys and theft tools confiscated
- Documents related to fake registration processes seized
- Evidence of previous criminal activities uncovered
All recovered vehicles have been identified and are in the process of being returned to their rightful owners after completing necessary legal formalities.
Modus Operandi Exposed
Investigations reveal that the accused employed sophisticated methods:
- Targeting premium motorcycle models with high resale value
- Using duplicate keys and specialized tools to bypass security systems
- Operating in areas with limited CCTV coverage
- Quickly changing appearance of stolen vehicles before resale
Police authorities have urged Delhi residents to enhance vehicle security measures and report any suspicious activities immediately to prevent such incidents.
