Delhi Police Conducts Major Anti-Crime Operation in Rohini
In a significant crackdown on criminal activities, the Delhi Police have arrested more than 60 individuals during a four-day anti-crime drive in northwest Delhi's Rohini area. The operation, which took place from March 18 to 21, 2026, was aimed at curbing organized and street crime through intensified policing efforts across the district.
Details of the Police Operation
The drive involved 44 specialized teams that carried out raids at 79 different locations. Additionally, the police checked 165 known offenders as part of their strategy to maintain law and order. This proactive approach highlights the department's commitment to ensuring public safety in the region.
Crackdown on Illegal Arms and Weapons
As part of the operation, the police registered 10 cases under the Arms Act and arrested 11 people. During these arrests, authorities recovered a substantial cache of weapons, including a revolver, a .32 bore pistol, five country-made pistols, 12 live cartridges, and four knives. A scooter was also seized in connection with these cases, underscoring the severity of the illegal arms trade targeted in the drive.
Action Against Illicit Liquor
The police also focused on combating the sale and distribution of illicit liquor, registering 14 cases under the Excise Act and making 14 arrests. In these actions, law enforcement officials seized 48 bottles and 13,993 quarters of illegal liquor. Furthermore, a car, a tempo, and a scooter were confiscated, indicating the scale of the illicit liquor operations disrupted during the drive.
Other Criminal Activities Addressed
In related efforts, the police registered 11 First Information Reports (FIRs) and apprehended 34 individuals, recovering Rs 30,380 as stake money. Separately, two alleged snatchers were arrested, with a stolen mobile phone and a scooty recovered. Additionally, an auto-lifter was held in possession of six high-end motorcycles, showcasing the diverse range of criminal activities tackled in this operation.
Profile of the Accused and Preventive Measures
The police revealed that four of the arrested individuals are history sheeters, with several others having prior criminal involvement. To further prevent crime, preventive action was taken against 768 people under various legal provisions. Moreover, 20 individuals were booked for drinking in public places, emphasizing the comprehensive nature of the anti-crime initiative.
