Delhi Police Arrests Gang Member in Plot to Murder Burari Businessman

In a significant crackdown on organized crime, the Delhi Police have apprehended an alleged member of the notorious Kaushal Chaudhary gang, who was reportedly assigned to execute the murder of a businessman based in Burari. The arrest sheds light on a chilling plot orchestrated from abroad to expand extortion networks through violence.

Details of the Arrest and Criminal Assignment

According to police officials, the arrested individual, identified as Kuldeep Singh (22), a resident of Bhalswa Dairy, was tasked by gangsters Pawan Shokeen and Gurdeep, who are currently operating from overseas. The gang's motive was to target the Burari businessman to assert their dominance and broaden their extortion operations across the region.

Singh's criminal history includes involvement in a high-profile Rs 5-crore extortion and firing case in Punjab in 2024, as well as a similar incident in Delhi's Bhalswa Dairy area the same year. These activities highlight his role in the gang's violent tactics to extort money from businesses.

Police Operation and Seizure of Weapons

Acting on a tip-off, police located Singh in Sector 17 of Dwarka. DCP (crime) Harsh Indora stated that on February 7, Singh was intercepted while riding a scooter. He attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the officers. During the arrest, authorities seized two loaded firearms: a PX-30 automatic pistol and a 7.65 mm pistol, along with five live cartridges. The scooter used by Singh was later discovered to have been stolen from Murad Nagar in Uttar Pradesh.

Background and Criminal Journey of Kuldeep Singh

During interrogation, Singh revealed that he dropped out of his BA second-year course after his father was murdered in 2019 over a property dispute. This tragic event led him into a life of crime. He was introduced to gangster Pawan Shokeen by an associate named Pradeep alias Bantu.

Following instructions from Shokeen and Gurdeep, Singh, along with accomplices, carried out a shooting outside Chawla Cloth House in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, in February 2024, demanding Rs 5 crore from the owner. Two months later, he was involved in another firing incident at Bhalswa Dairy, which resulted in his arrest. He was released on bail in August 2025, only to resume criminal activities.

International Links and Ongoing Investigations

Singh confessed that the pistols intended for the Burari businessman's murder were supplied under the directions of Gurdeep, who is currently in Portugal, and Shokeen, through their network of associates. This revelation underscores the transnational nature of the gang's operations and the challenges faced by law enforcement in tackling such organized crime syndicates.

The Delhi Police are continuing their investigation to uncover further details about the gang's extortion network and to apprehend other involved individuals, both domestically and internationally.
