Delhi Police Dismantles Interstate Drug Cartel in Major Operation

In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Delhi Police crime branch has successfully dismantled an interstate drug cartel, seizing psychotropic substances worth over Rs 4.5 crore. The operation resulted in the arrest of four adult accused individuals and the apprehension of a juvenile, marking a major victory in the fight against organized drug crime.

Operation Initiated Based on Intelligence

The operation commenced on March 17, 2024, following specific intelligence inputs regarding a drug consignment in northeast Delhi. A specialized team from the crime branch laid an elaborate trap to intercept the illicit shipment. Their efforts paid off when they successfully intercepted a motorcycle carrying a substantial quantity of narcotics.

Arrests and Seizures

The motorcycle rider, identified as 20-year-old Nitin Pathak, was immediately arrested at the scene. Police also apprehended a juvenile who was allegedly involved in the operation. From their possession, authorities recovered 1.912 kilograms of Alprazolam tablets and 0.491 kilograms of Tramadol tablets, both classified as psychotropic substances with significant abuse potential.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Anti-Narcotics Task Force) Rahool Alwal provided crucial details about the investigation. "During interrogation, Nitin Pathak revealed connections to a broader supply network operating across state lines," DCP Alwal stated. "Acting swiftly on these disclosures, our team conducted a coordinated raid at a medical store in Bhopura, Uttar Pradesh."

Expanding the Investigation

During the Uttar Pradesh raid, police arrested Prem Singh Yadav and seized an additional 1.218 kilograms of Tramadol capsules from his establishment. This discovery confirmed the interstate nature of the drug cartel and its sophisticated distribution channels.

The investigation continued to expand as police followed additional leads. Authorities subsequently arrested Shalu Kumar from the Laxmi Nagar area of Delhi. From Kumar's residence, investigators recovered 1.627 kilograms of Alprazolam tablets, further evidence of the cartel's extensive operations.

Final Arrest and Ongoing Investigation

Police later apprehended another accused, Sanjay Singh, based on further information obtained during the investigation. The total seizure of psychotropic substances across all locations amounted to a street value exceeding Rs 4.5 crore, representing one of the significant drug busts in the region this year.

The Delhi Police have emphasized that their investigation remains ongoing as they work to identify and dismantle the entire supply chain of this interstate drug cartel. Authorities are particularly focused on tracing the source of these psychotropic substances and identifying all individuals involved in their distribution network.

This operation demonstrates the Delhi Police's commitment to combating drug trafficking through coordinated intelligence-led operations. The seizure of such a substantial quantity of narcotics is expected to disrupt drug availability in the National Capital Region and surrounding areas significantly.
