Delhi Police Constable and Associate Arrested for Fake PCC Racket
A Delhi Police constable and his associate have been arrested for allegedly operating a racket that produced fake police clearance certificates (PCCs). The illicit operation came to light during an investigation into drug trafficking activities in southeast Delhi.
Details of the Accused
The accused have been identified as constable Arun, who was posted at the Shaheen Bagh police station, and Tushar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh. Arun, originally from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, joined the police force in 2017 on compassionate grounds following his father's service. According to senior officers, the duo had been allegedly manufacturing fake PCCs for several months.
Evidence Recovered
A search of their rented accommodation in the Sunlight Colony area resulted in the recovery of numerous forged documents. Police seized stamps purportedly belonging to Station House Officers (SHOs) of Delhi Police and Ghaziabad Police, along with other official materials. Additionally, a fake Delhi Police identity card in Tushar's name and multiple fabricated PCCs were confiscated.
How the Racket Was Uncovered
The racket surfaced after the district narcotics unit arrested a suspected drug trafficker named Ashish and recovered approximately 18 grams of MDMA from him. During interrogation, Ashish provided information that led investigators to his rented house in Sunlight Colony. When police conducted a raid on the premises, they found Arun and Tushar present. It was later revealed that the two had been residing in the house for about six months, paying a monthly rent of Rs 35,000.
Scope of the Operation
Investigators stated that evidence indicated the duo had issued fake PCCs to several individuals. Police sources revealed that they could prepare forged certificates within hours. In contrast, official PCCs in Delhi are issued online by the Special Branch and typically require 10–15 days for processing. The accused allegedly utilized forged SHO stamps to create the counterfeit documents.
