Delhi Police cracks Jal Board engineer murder case

In a significant breakthrough, the Delhi Police has successfully cracked the murder case of a Jal Board Assistant Engineer, leading to the arrest of the prime accused and recovery of stolen valuables worth approximately ₹4 lakh.

Swift Police Action Solves Heinous Crime

The investigation unfolded after the brutal murder of Assistant Engineer Mahender, whose body was discovered in a pool of blood at his residence in northeast Delhi's New Usmanpur area. The crime scene suggested a violent struggle, with the victim having sustained multiple stab wounds.

Breakthrough in Investigation

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey, the police team developed crucial leads that pointed toward one Amit, who had previously worked with the deceased engineer. "Technical surveillance and ground intelligence helped us zero in on the suspect," stated DCP Tirkey.

The Arrest and Recovery

The accused, Amit, was apprehended from his hideout, leading to the recovery of stolen items including:

  • Two gold chains
  • Two gold rings
  • Silver anklets
  • Cash amounting to ₹35,000
  • The murder weapon - a blood-stained knife

Motive Behind the Crime

During interrogation, the accused revealed that financial constraints and previous acquaintance with the victim led him to commit the crime. He admitted to visiting the engineer's residence with the intention of theft, which escalated into murder when the victim resisted.

The investigation revealed that the accused had gained the victim's trust through their professional association, making it easier for him to access the residence without raising suspicion.

Police Commendation

The Delhi Police team has been praised for their swift action in solving the case within a short timeframe. The recovery of stolen goods and the murder weapon has strengthened the case against the accused, who has been remanded to police custody for further investigation.

The successful resolution of this case highlights the effectiveness of modern investigative techniques combined with traditional police work in solving serious crimes in the national capital.
