Delhi Police Implements Multi-Layered Security with AI Technology for Republic Day

The Delhi Police has been placed on high alert with a massive deployment of over 30,000 personnel across the city to ensure foolproof security for the Republic Day celebrations. Officials have confirmed that a comprehensive, multi-layered security net has been established, incorporating both traditional policing methods and cutting-edge technological solutions.

Massive Personnel Deployment in New Delhi District

In the New Delhi district alone, which encompasses the ceremonial parade route and other high-security zones, approximately 10,000 police personnel have been stationed. Additional Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Devesh Kumar Mahala emphasized that all standard operating procedures, including the installation of pickets and barricades, are fully operational. "For the safety and security of Republic Day celebrations, approximately 10,000 police personnel are deployed in the New Delhi area. Pickets, barricades and all standard operating procedures are in place," he stated.

Authorities have conducted detailed briefings and rehearsals with all personnel, ensuring that deployment plans and contingency measures are clearly understood and effectively implemented. This meticulous preparation aims to address any potential security challenges proactively.

Advanced AI Surveillance and Facial Recognition Systems

A key component of this year's security apparatus is the extensive use of artificial intelligence and surveillance technology. More than 3,000 CCTV cameras equipped with advanced video analytics and Facial Recognition System (FRS) have been installed throughout the New Delhi area, including along the parade route and adjacent locations.

Live feeds from these cameras are monitored 24/7 through over 30 control rooms, staffed by nearly 150 dedicated personnel. Furthermore, ground police officers are now equipped with India-made AI glasses that integrate FRS and video analytics. These glasses are connected in real-time to police databases containing records of criminals, suspects, and proclaimed offenders.

"These India-made AI glasses are linked in real time with police databases of criminals, suspects and proclaimed offenders. If there is a face match in a crowded area, it can be detected immediately, allowing quick intervention," explained Mahala, highlighting the technology's capability for rapid threat identification.

Comprehensive Security Grid and Strategic Measures

The security framework includes:

  • Multi-layered barricading and strict access control along the parade route and surrounding areas.
  • Multiple levels of checking and frisking at all designated entry points.
  • Deployment of mobile surveillance vehicles fitted with FRS technology at strategic locations to enhance monitoring and mobility.
  • Placement of sniper teams on thousands of rooftops across New Delhi, North, and Central districts.

Vigilance has been intensified in high-footfall areas such as markets, bus terminals, metro stations, and railway stations across Delhi. Deputy commissioners of police have conducted thorough route surveys and anti-sabotage checks to preempt any security breaches.

Additional Security Initiatives and Public Cooperation

As part of the broader security exercise, the police are also executing tenant verification and domestic help verification drives. Inter-state coordination meetings with police forces from neighboring states have been held to ensure seamless information sharing, intelligence coordination, and overall preparedness.

Authorities have urged citizens to strictly adhere to security guidelines and avoid carrying prohibited items. Attendees are reminded that seating enclosures are named after rivers and should be aware of their specific enclosure, approach road, and designated entry channel to facilitate smooth and secure access.

This robust and technologically advanced security deployment underscores the Delhi Police's commitment to safeguarding the Republic Day celebrations, ensuring a safe and orderly environment for all participants and spectators.
