New Delhi: The Delhi Police has initiated an investigation into an incident where an intellectually challenged woman was discovered injured in the Trilokpuri area of East Delhi. Authorities have deployed multiple teams to identify and apprehend the culprits, officials confirmed on Saturday.
Incident Details
According to police reports, a PCR call was received at the Mayur Vihar police station around 6:30 AM on June 12, alerting them about an injured woman lying near Trilokpuri. However, upon arrival at the scene, officers found neither the woman nor the caller present.
Subsequent contact with the caller revealed that he was a rickshaw puller who had informed the authorities before leaving the area. During local inquiries, police discovered that an ambulance had transported the injured woman to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital.
Victim Identification
The victim was later identified as an intellectually challenged vagrant woman, frequently seen roaming in the Block 27 area of Trilokpuri. Police reported that her medico-legal case (MLC) indicated physical assault, with swelling and superficial injury marks on her face.
Doctors informed investigators that the woman is conscious but unable to provide a coherent statement due to her intellectual disability. Following the incident, Crime and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams inspected the scene and collected evidence. Police also conducted extensive local inquiries in the area.
Legal Action
Based on the medical examination and available evidence, a case under Section 110 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at the Mayur Vihar police station. Police stated that several teams have been formed to scan CCTV footage and gather local intelligence. Further investigation is underway.
