Dramatic Armed Robbery in East Delhi Ends with Cash Recovery

A shocking incident of armed robbery unfolded in East Delhi's Madhu Vihar area, where a businessman and his elderly grandfather were targeted at gunpoint. The assailants made off with approximately Rs 1 lakh in cash, but the situation took a dramatic turn when a family member gave chase, leading to the recovery of the stolen money and weapon.

Incident Details and Police Response

According to police reports, the Madhu Vihar police station received information about the robbery and subsequent firing incident on April 9. A police team was immediately dispatched to Joshi Colony in the IP Extension area to investigate the matter.

The complainant informed authorities that his grandfather, who operates a wholesale FMCG business in Sector-62, Noida, had just returned home with family members and an employee around 10:30 PM. As they were walking toward their residence near Royal Banquet Hall after exiting their vehicle, two unidentified men approached on a motorcycle.

The Robbery and Dramatic Chase

One of the assailants brandished a firearm and threatened the businessman and his grandfather before forcibly snatching a bag containing approximately Rs 1 lakh in cash. Upon hearing the commotion, a family member immediately sprang into action.

The family member pursued the fleeing robbers in a car and managed to ram their motorcycle, creating a chaotic scene in the residential area. Despite this intervention, the accused managed to continue their escape attempt.

Escape Attempt and Evidence Recovery

During their frantic getaway, the assailants allegedly fired shots into the air in a bid to deter further pursuit. In what appears to have been a panic-driven decision, they discarded both the stolen bag containing the cash and the weapon used in the crime.

This crucial development allowed authorities to recover the stolen money and the firearm, providing important evidence for the ongoing investigation.

Legal Proceedings and Investigation

Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act at Madhu Vihar police station. Multiple police teams are actively working on the case, employing various investigative techniques to identify and apprehend the suspects.

Investigators are currently collecting and analyzing CCTV footage from nearby areas, hoping to trace the movements of the accused before and after the incident. The recovered weapon is being examined for forensic evidence that might help establish connections to the perpetrators.

This incident highlights the continuing challenges of street crime in urban areas and demonstrates how quick thinking by citizens can sometimes disrupt criminal activities. The police investigation continues as authorities work to bring the culprits to justice.
